Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Are they implying that the plots of these comics are lacking to accommodate for the unspeakable amounts of intercourse?” Not at all. I also wouldn’t quantify the amount of sex scenes as outrageous either. What this title really means is that the plot is driven by sex either between the main characters or a number of side characters. The premise of the comic is either rooted entirely in physical intimacy or a key part of the story heavily relies on this form of character interaction. As I go over each comic, you’ll come to understand what I mean. So let’s get into it! (Pun very much so intended.) Here are my top 3 BL comics from Lezhin with a very hearty amount of steamy time!

DEAR.DOOR by Pluto
Status: Main story finished & still releasing side stories
The premise of this comic is supernatural meets ordinary as our main character, Kyungjoon has his life completely turned upside down as the great and powerful demon Cain barges into his world. Mysterious deaths, demons, angels, and an intertwining past reaching back to the beginning of time quickly has Kyungjoon and Cain falling for each other as they are forced to depend on one another. So where does the sex come in? As the ruler of Hell, Cain needs a human vessel through which he can travel back to the underworld from the human realm. Guess how he gets there? When his human “door’ orgasms, which just so happens to be Kyungjoon. So there is a great deal of sex scenes. However, over time most of them are not to just open the door to hell, but rather to consummate their attraction and growing love for each other. These two seamlessly fall in love in the most precious way but I also can’t deny that the steamy scenes, especially with Cain in his demon form, has made this one of my top SGC (Sexy Gay Comics) of all time.
While having a genuinely intriguing plot, unfolding storylines, and side character romances, I really think this is a webtoon that simply cannot disappoint. Best described as eternal since there was no way Kyungjoon and Cain could never be, this story gives me the type of romance I love best; out of this world intimacy and fated pairs.

Painter of the Night by Byeonduck
Status: Season 1-3 completed and Season 4 ongoing
I strongly believe that this story first brought many readers to Lezhin in the first place and led to the success of many webtoons on this platform. Seungho and Nakyum are in entirely different classes, Seungho being a literal Lord, and Nakyum being nothing but a drunk, penniless painter. However, Seungho’s obsession with Nakyum’s erotic painting of men leads to him trapping the painter at his residence, forcing him to paint for him and…more. Although this story is extremely toxic and undoubtedly obsessive, it was a story I anticipated every new release for four years. I am a huge fan of seeing a heartless slutty top become completely undone by a bottom and that’s exactly what happens. Both characters are riddled with painful pasts, complicated relationships, and an inability to control their sexual desires. Sex, and their obsession with it, is what brings them together and is ultimately the foundation of their twisted relationship.
I highly recommend it to those who can stomach some of the common triggering elements that often appear in BL. For me, Painter of the Night is a desperate story of love, heartache, and trauma. That being said, I still wish I was Nakyum. Hands down.

Hard-Boiled Love
Written by Gwendolyn / Illustrated by Huingin
Status: Ongoing
This comic is the newest of the three comics on this list, with the first chapter having been released just this January. Hard-Boiled Love has the most realistic version of a sexual relationship with two human characters, in modern times, and a generally healthy relationship dynamic. This is very intriguing to me since the sex between the two main characters, Gyuwon and Hwayoung, falls into the BDSM dynamic, specifically the Dom (dominant) and Sub (submissive) elements. This comic does an excellent job of exploring the BDSM community, a variety of different sexual dynamics, and how even such an edgy thing as this can be pursued in a safe way. I am also a huge fan of the fact that the sub, Gyuwon, is our more rough around the edges character with a massive build but also has the softest bottom boy personality. The dom, Hwayoung, is a rich pretty boy constantly battling with his desire to love and destroy his bodyguard turned lover.
The hardcore elements of this story contradict the softness of the love between the two characters. So I think the best way to describe this story is unflinching, in both the blinding romance and steady trust between a dom and sub, a relationship I can only dream of!
If you’re interested in more plot-focused BLs (with lighter/fewer sex scenes) I suggest taking a look at my top 3 comics listed in my article, “3 Gay Comics that Prioritize Plot Over Sexy Time.” You can find the link here. All of these titles are available on Lezhin for chapter-by-chapter purchase. This feature is really convenient since it allows you to preview a few chapters to make sure they fit your taste instead of buying them all at once.
*This is not a sponsored article although it would be greatly appreciated if someone reached out considering how much money I’ve spent there.*
Author’s Note : Regarding “Painter of the Night”
Although I am so excited to begin reading this story again, as I took a step back to take a look at the story objectively to describe it in this article, I found it hard to recommend this story with full conviction. There are questionable elements that can be triggering for some audiences as there are obsessive elements that compare to BL such as Killing Stalking, a webtoon that even I couldn’t see through to the end. Although it’s less gory than that story, there is murder, abuse of power, and worse. I highly suggest to anyone interested in reading to first look up the trigger warnings on this story before deciding if this is for you.
